Stephen Briggs/Terry Pratchett: "Unseen Academicals" [Nov. 21st, 2009|10:24 pm]
Douglas Spencer
Thirteen of us, from Aylesbury/Bracknell/Croydon/Nottingham/Sheffield and similar places, have been to see a play in Abingdon. It was mostly about pie.

Afterwards we went to a pub/restaurant and had a big dinner.

It was a good day.

Sadly, no. I had pate, and duck, and obviously-not-cheesecake.

kiwi_dan had pie, but that was before the performance so I'm not sure it counts. Mmm, smocked duck was yummy, though fake cheesecake was a disappointing pudding. I must have known that was going to happen though, as I also ate the rather yummy brioche bread and butter pudding for lunch just before the play.

You had the smocked duck? Was it really wearing a smock?

(The menu claimed it would be smocked. I would be upset if this was false advertising)

I'm sure we could make smocked duck -- a sort of lattice en-croute would work.

It was good.

I'm just sorry we did not have the time to hang around, eat and chat more. We got home about 9pm and we were both pretty much dead to the world by then so it's probably a good idea we left when we did.
