Last Friday, at my cousin's wedding, I got my mother's new PC out of my car boot and into my brother Richard's. Off it went down to Devon.
Over the ensuing week, Peter (another brother) has transfered her internet settings, message store, accumulated documents and so on from her old machine to her new one. Now it's all up and running, and she's delighted with it.
"It's so fast", she says. "It doesn't crash", she says. "The new printer picks up the paper every time", she says. "And only one sheet", she says.
She's really very, very pleased.
But what is the feature of her new kit which has delighted her most of all?
I'm sure the fascination will fade over time.
