Right then, off to Picocon.
See some of you there.
I left Picocon promptly, declining the chance to go to Croydon and sit around talking rubbish till four in the morning because I have a long drive tomorrow, down to Devon to visit my mother. I got home at about half past nine, ready for an early night...
... and have since been rebuilding the house W2k3 server, which must have died horribly sometime today. It was an old Celeron box, speed unknown, which was my mother's former workstation before she got her new one, and it's had a squeaky and sticky CPU fan for a long time. I suspect that at some point it stopped going around and the processor has cooked itself.
I've moved the disks into another box which at least powers up, but Windows gave me a STOP: 0x0000007B error, which means it's worked out how to boot but doesn't know how to drive the device it's supposed to be booting from, and so I'm currently doing an in-place upgrade (which is MS-speak for a reinstallation which might preserve the settings if I keep my fingers crossed), and we'll see how it goes.
As I've said, I'm off to Mother's tomorrow morning -- I'll be away until Wednesday and I really need this box to be working properly while I'm away.
