ang_grrr interviewed me.
1. Would you rather be loved or admired?
There really isn't a contest. I'd much sooner be loved.
Sometimes admiration comes as a free bonus, or as a precursor, and in circumstances like that I'd gladly take them both. But if it had to be a choice between one or the other, I'd sooner be loved.
I think that the sort of love I'm considering in this question is a very personal, individual feeling. I don't think of admiration in quite the same way. I could believe that someone admired my work, perhaps, but me? That's harder to believe.
Other people may have a different kind of love, a different kind of admiration, in mind. But this is me answering.
2. Is the Red Dwarf movie ever going to be made?
I hope so. And the TV series is recent enough that they could do it with the original cast (the Llewellyn Kryten rather than the first one). But I think it would work with other actors too.
I'd prefer a Claire Cochanski rather than a Chloe Cochanski (spelling?), but the "usual" actors in the four main characters would be hard to beat.
Oh, and Norman Lovett playing Holly. Obviously.
Smoke me a kipper, it'll be greenlit before breakfast.
3. How's your Mum?
She's okay. She keeps busy running around the West Country for the URC, for Churches Together, and for LGCM. She's getting better and better at using the web, and has been using email heavily for a couple of years.
Oh, and she's very patient with her four sons -- Peter was with her for a week recently, and he needs a lot of looking after at the moment -- and she frequently asks when I'm going to visit next.
4. It's five years from now and I'm quitting the Guide Association. What should my new hobby be (anything fandom related is immediately disqualified)?
You mean there are hobbies outside fandom? I think any hobby is something you take up because you're a fan of something.
I think you could usefully become a campaigner for local issues -- workplace rights, planning blight, the public image of Liverpudlians, you'd be bound to think of something.
And here's me foolishly believing that these questions were about me.
5. What did you last see at the theatre?
It depends what you mean by Theatre. The Black Books homage at Novacon probably doesn't count, and nor does the Sorensen production at Eastercon, but they'll have to do, since I think it's more than a year since I've been to a conventional theatre.
But I go to the Circus as often as I can manage -- I've been to the Chinese and Russian State Circuses during their tours recently, and I'm going to see Dralion from the Cirque du Soleil at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday.
Quoting the traditional rules:
If you want me to interview you, post a comment that simply says, "Interview me." I'll respond with questions for you to take back to your own journal and answer as a post. Of course, they'll be different for each person since this is an interview and not a general survey. At the bottom of your post, after answering the Interviewer's questions, you ask if anyone wants to be interviewed. So it becomes your turn-- in the comments, you ask them any questions you have for them to take back to their journals and answer.
