I've been caught.

That nice Mr Baker, the Chief Constable of Dorset Police, has written to me.

It seems that on the way home from the Bournemouth Slouch a couple of weeks ago, one of his little cameras on the A338 near Queens Park saw my car doing 59mph in a 50pmh limit, and so he's sent me a little letter asking me to confirm that I was the driver at the time.

Two years ago, I had a similar letter from the boys and girls in blue up in Essex or Bedfordshire or somewhere like that. I filled in the form and sent it back, and never heard from them again. I hope I'm as lucky this time.

I've done a little arithmetic -- I think I've driven something like 300,000 miles in the last 22 years. I've never actually picked up a fine or any points on my license thus far.

I'll keep you all up to date on developments.
