Susan's mother writes:

I am planning a special memorial for Susan in Port Angeles. It will be a bench in a beautiful spot along the Discovery Trail, close to the water, looking over to Victoria, Canada. I would be so happy to have donations sent for that purpose. Anyone who visits the Olympic Peninsula could stop there and reflect, and would be so welcome in our home. Our address is:
Nancy Chambers
1216 South Golf Course Road, Port Angeles, Washington 98362.
We will have the dedication for *Susan's bench* later in the summer.

I love that idea, what's the most practical way to contribute the money?

Probably via me -- we'll only get one set of losses-on-exchange that way.

Since I still have a US bank account I am going to send the money via check (cheque) to Nancy. It's a beautiful idea and I am going to send her money as well as a donation to a local hospice.

We will send you some money - what is best? Cheque? Paypal? Cash directly into your bank account? Not sure when we will see you next.

I'd like to contribute to that - please let me know how to get the money to you. (Do you have paypal?)

You can always speak to Roger Robinson and ask him to change a UK cheque to a US check.

And, of course.

Roger is a good idea. Yes.

Otherwise, there seem to be bits of your comment missing.

Sorry, they were missing by way of saying "and the obvious, of course I will."

That is such a lovely idea. I will be sure to contribute as soon as I get a money order from the bank. It sounds like a beautiful place for her memory.

Thanks so much for passing this along--I'll definitely be contributing to this fund, or a cancer group, or both. And hopefully I'll get out to the West Coast sometime soon and visit her memorial. It sounds like a beautiful idea.

That is a very nice area, it has weather rather than climate, roads and towns follow geography rather than the compass, it has trees, mountains, water and wildlife. It is the nicest place in the US I have found. (I have been to most states, and about half a dozen times to Washington)

Benches are a memorial that I really like. I often look at the plaques on benches and think about the people they were dedicated to. There's some memorial benches along one of my favourite local walks.

I'll mail some cash to Nancy.

My cousin has a bench in Central Park, NYC.

I think it's a lovely idea.
