To the afternoon do, he's invited only four people from his side of the family:
- My mother and her boyfriend
- My father and his wife.
This looks like being much more entertainment than the wedding itself, but I'm going to miss it.
I've met my father about three times in the last ten years, and there's never anything to talk about.
("How are you?" - "Fine. You?" - "OK. Ummm ..." - "See you then ...")
I think it was two funerals (his father, his sister) and someone's wedding (not mine).
But whenever my mother meets his wife ... Well, perhaps my father and his wife won't be there by the evening.
Does anyone else have relatives such that it's much easier if they just don't turn up?
