I'm walking to the station in the morning. I like walking, it's nice.|
I'm on the train from Bracknell to Feltham. Travelling by train is good.
I'm on the bus from Feltham to Heathrow. Bus journeys are fun.
I'm flying from Heathrow to Dublin.
I'm on the bus from Dublin Airport to Connolly Station. I enjoy going by bus.
I'm on the train from Connolly to Maynooth. Trains are very pleasant.
I'm walking from the station to the hotel. I like walking, it's nice.
See if you can work out why the parallel sentence structures broke down in the middle of that journey.

You used to be able to get a train to Anglesey and then a ferry to Ireland as far as I can recall.
Still can. Planes are the spawn of Lucifer :-)
Apart from the F-18D which is TF-800-powered sex.
And the Vickers VC-10, which is gorgeous.
And the Avro Vulcan, which is the most gorgeous thing ever to take to the skies.
And the Douglas DC-8, which even Satan would think a step too far...
You still can, but it takes six and a half hours from here to Holyhead, and then a long wait to the next ferry, and then an hour and forty on the boat, and leaving home at 8am gets me into the hotel at 8pm. It eats into the boozing time. I'm prepared to put up with an hour and a half of mindless terror in order to gain a lie-in and then the chance to start drinking a few hours earlier.
Agree about the "spawn of Lucifer" thing, though.
I suspected it might take a while!
Hold on, let me check ...
No. No I didn't. There is no such bit.
Sorry I can't go with you, darling. I do hope you have a good time.
Well, I'll try to enjoy myself without you there, but it won't be easy.
There was a period of nearly two hours a couple of weeks back, where I was going to be coming over .. then I realised that with finances and such being the way they are, and with the stuff I need to be doing at home, it didn't make a lot of sense ... but still, it would have been lovely to be there.
Have fun for me, and I'll see you soon I hope.
