    However as you can tell I'm not on the ball today, and I failed to include the invoice. Here's another attempt.

I have been thinking it would be a useful to write a little routine for my mail software that searches for the string 'attach' in any email I send and then checks to see if there was an attachment and if not pops up a little message.

It would not have helped in this case.
