Torchwood question (spoiler for this week's episode) [Nov. 29th, 2006|09:47 pm]
Douglas Spencer
Watching the BBC2 repeat.

Jack programmed the transporter to send Mary to the sun. He says it won't be hot because it's night-time.

And yet Mary went vertically upwards...?

Jack could have been telling fibs and he's actually popped her into storage so she can come back and snog some more of the cast [hope] [hope]

You're right, of course. She's now stuck in the same jar as the Doctor's severed hand.

It's easier to travel upwards and left a bit than through solid rock and stuff. This is something I have learnt.

Besides she'd have probably been burnt up going through the earths melty bits which would have spoilt all the fun.

All that rock and stuff is very difficult to get through. The least-cost trajectory is probably slingshot around mars then nose dive into the sun.

Other than that, arguably the best episode so far, I'd say.

Quite likely. It didn't encourage me to watch any more of them though I expect I shall.

I assumed she was going via the roof hatch... then presumably a Cardiff bus to the airport, changing at Heathrow for Sydney International, and the rest of the way direct... and by then the sun would have "moved" back to the right place for an instant journey thingy. Science, eh?
