I have no idea how I acquire this reputation... [Jan. 19th, 2007|12:37 pm]
Douglas Spencer
I'm going to a party tomorrow.

I've just received extremely clear instructions about how I shouldn't turn up wearing just yellow body paint. Apparently there's a chance it might be thought disturbing.

What should I dress as instead? The instructions say "a character from fiction", so there's some considerable scope there.

Green body paint could work. Then you'd be an alien from UFO.
Or how about going as an Oompaloompa?

He could go as an Oompaloompa's dad.

I could put "He could go as an Ooompaloompa's dad" on my LJ profile page under the "what some people have said about me" section.

I'd have to colour my hair too.

Star Trek and Lost in Space both got there first.

Other colours are fine, it's just yellow that's the problem. Yes?

I'm not sure I'm quite hairy enough. I've got a stick...

The words 'shark infested custard' have leapt unbidden into my head.

What would you have been in said bodypaint?

Try to guess. I would have needed to take a yellow trombone with me.

Saddam with weapons of mass destruction (very fictional!)

An honest politician (wait, that's fantasy!)

Captain Ahab ... "Aye, there be that Moby Leg, the whale that bit off my ... oh wait, I mean ... " :-)

Actually I've always wondered if you were fictional yourself, so you could just go as dougs.

Not someone you know, I think. An Oxford PPEist who has been an excellent slash writer since the age of about 15, and who was active in the M*A*S*H-slash forums when I first joined them four or five years ago.

I'd need the right kind of glasses. In fact, I'd have liked those glasses when I dressed up as Ponder Stibbons at New Year's Eve, but I made some out of cardboard.

If I declared myself fictional for the day, you could go as me, thereby slightly reducing my irritation at not being able to get there.

All you need is a black skirt and a hat.

So if you were there, you'd only be wearing a skirt and a hat?

Now I'm really disappointed that you're missing it.

I would certainly consider it. Especially if I could decide which fictional character would wear that.

And believe me, I'm very disappointed too.
