Socialising mathematicians [Jan. 26th, 2007|12:32 am]
Douglas Spencer
GIP.

According to loneraven:
It is, incidentally, a myth that mathmos can't socialise. Mathmos can socialise just fine. With other mathmos. dougs and zeta_of_s stood in a corner for hours and talked about maths

... so that's okay.

Also, I now learn that the girl I mentioned who was only wearing her underwear was, in fact, dressed as Roxy Hart. That makes sense.

Regrettably, no. We were talking about the Zeta function, inevitably; about the nobility of pure maths as opposed to the sordidness of applied maths; and one of the leading candidates for the story of how topology got its name.

I now have this lovely image of two lava lamps chatting quietly in a corner.
