Research: preliminary findings [Oct. 23rd, 2007|12:06 am]
Douglas Spencer
I haven't finished normalising the statistics and I'm sure I'll soon have a larger sample size, hence these are only preliminary results. Nevertheless it seems that from the moment that the Stepson gets hold of the remote control to the moment when a soap opera appears on the television averages approximately six point three five seconds.

Not research I've undertaken willingly. Obviously.

Monday is particularly soap-rich, certainly there are two episodes of Corrie.

You should take him to my parents house. My mother would enjoy the competition. We learnt from a very tiny age to run away and hide as soon as the theme music starts to roll.

Fortunately my mother was always more interested in hunting down some science fiction, murder mystery or spy thriller - and if the TV didn't provide then we would all sit reading books - my father (who for a long time we believed couldn't read) used to come home from work and ask in horror if the TV was broken. All soaps were very short-lived - the first rousing note of the theme tune followed by a firm and decisive click!

A former housemate had the unique talent of finding animals having sex. I'm not sure what would happen if we put the two of them into a room together with one television.
