[New readers start here -- Eastercon is The British National Science Fiction Convention, and takes place every year over the Easter weekend.]|
It's that time of year, and the number of posts about Eastercon on my friends list is beginning to climb. I'm expecting to see quite a few "where to find me during Eastercon" posts over the next couple of days.
I've been to Eastercons in 1993, 1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. However circumstances have dictated that I have to miss the 2008 Eastercon, which would otherwise have been my 37th convention, my first convention of 2008, my tenth Eastercon, and my sixth Eastercon in succession. But I can't be there. Oh well.
So my movements over Easter are as follows:
On Tuesday 18th it will be julia_winolj's birthday, but I won't be in a position to celebrate it with her because...
On Wednesday 19th I have an hour in the dentist's chair in the morning, and I'm at a client's in Clapham all afternoon. In the evening I should be at the monthly ZZ9 Pub Meeting, in The George Inn, just off Borough High Street.
On Thursday 20th I'm heading up to Sheffield, where I'll be spending the late afternoon onwards with Julia, where we can catch up with activities deferred from Tuesday.
On Good Friday I'm bundling her into the car and driving her off to a hotel by a river in a historic and scenic city in the north of England, where we'll be doing weekend-away-together type stuff.
On Monday 24th I'm driving her back home to Sheffield.
On Tuesday 25th I'm heading back home again because...
On Wednesday 26th I'm back at the dentist's again.
I hope and trust that you will all have Eastercon experiences which are as pleasant and complete as can be achieved in my absence.
