|Directions for the France trip

In a couple of weeks I'm going to France for a few days, staying with friends.|
Like an industrious forward-planning type of person I went to the Google Maps website and asked it for directions from the ferry terminal to my friends' place.
This is the result:
567 km – about 8 hours 44 mins.
Did you tick the box for 'scenic route'?
Nothing like that -- just right-clicked to set the destination, right-clicked to set the start. And then maximised the window and zoomed out, out, out, out...
Oh that's an old joke. But still a good one :)
cf try Ireland to N America:)
You can download a Google Maps client from the Google Mobile Products page
, assuming you go there using a compatible handset... and it has an option for using the GPS unit built into your phone, or via Bluetooth.
Um, yes - they seem to have mislaid a stretch of about 50 metres of road within the Dieppe ferry terminal, even though it's visible on the map. If they had done that almost anywhere else, it probably wouldn't be so ridiculously obvious.
Google Maps does seem to have a problem with border crossings - try Novo Selo, Bulgaria to Svilengrad, Bulgaria for an even longer journey (and note that both places are about 15 miles east of Edirne in Turkey, to which Google Maps apparently can't find directions from anywhere).
