Fanzine "The Descent of Fan" [Nov. 18th, 2008|03:43 pm]
Douglas Spencer
There was Novacon, traditionally a hotbed for the exchange of fanzines.

There were very few fanzines... Very very few.

But one of them was from me!

"The Descent of Fan" is now available for download at eFanzines.

I'm already intending to post copies to certain people. Additionally I'll be at the ZZ9 meeting tomorrow, the BSFA meeting next week, and the Tun the week after and will be bringing copies with me for hand-distribution.

Whether the paucity of fanzines at Novacon is a symptom of the lower attendance, the specific demographic who did turn up, a lessened interest in traditional publication (in favour of e-zines or blogging) or just a statistical blip would be a good topic for debate, once I've cleared the cobwebs. Well done for pubbing your own ish, anyway.

Read, enjoyed, done. All much less fuss than all those fuddyduddy pieces of paper of yore. I wondered if much dent was made in the pile of old fanzines outside the dealers' room?
