Diverse snippets [Feb. 3rd, 2009|07:31 pm]

My meeting tonight has been cancelled, not due to weather but due to illness on the part of too many attendees.

I've finished the salmon. It was jolly good.

Bin day today -- and instead of the lorry coming round at its usual early morning it was nearly lunchtime.

Freecycle is grinding slowly on, with the average number of potential takers for an item before someone actually collects falling somewhere between 2 and 2.5, and the average delay between time fixed for collection and time actually collected falling somewhere between 18 and 24 hours.

One digit of my house number fell off the front of my house a while ago leaving only the other, and confusing people as to my true address. I've now removed the remaining digit, printed the number on a piece of paper and stuck it in the window. Perhaps I'll get a proper replacement later.

Freecycle is fantastic and frustrating in equal measure. There seem to be a few people in any group who will auto-reply to every offer, with follow up only a handful.
I've had a large number of no-shows for collection, mostly for stuff I'm throwing out at work, but I still keep the faith. Without Freecycle, you're be sitting on the bare boards when you visit us.

I've not Freecycled all that many things, but each time I have the first person I've offered it to has turned up when we've agreed. I haven't had anything like the hassle you seem to have!
