Let's hope that it's lasted better than the champagne we opened at your party. I'm happy to volunteer to help you test this little lot.

Any idea if it was good wine when it was "laid-down?"

There are 38 bottles of inexpensive French supermarket/wine-warehouse wine aimed at the English duty-free shopper, and seven bottles from an English vineyard near Dorking. Calling it "good" would be stretching it.
