Well, now I hear that he's had an accident with an electric saw, and has damaged his right arm rather more than one would normally wish. All the damage is to the outside of the forearm, which makes him really quite lucky because all the important blood and nerve conduits go down the inside, where they are safely out of the way. It looks like the integrity of the limb is not in doubt, which is better than my family sometimes manage.
Mother (from whom I took the call) says that they've appointed a jolly good surgeon and they've reconnected the relevant tendons and he has movement in all those parts of the hand where they want him to have movement. And apparently the insurers are all up to speed and so on.
