Quotation recognition [Apr. 23rd, 2010|12:27 pm]
Douglas Spencer
In a webcomic today, one of the characters is eating using an implement with three tines.

The webcomic concerned has an RSS feed which is syndicated to LJ, and so there's a post for it today.

I commented saying "Three tines is not a fork. Three tines is a trident. Forks are for eating, tridents are for ruling the Seven Seas."

People have replied as if I'm making a serious point about suitable implements for eating.

He's obviously never seen a dessert fork, though.

You can't rule a desert with a fork, you'd need a spoon or all the sand would run through.

If the commenters are American maybe they don't have a sense of eating-irony.
