Post-Eastercon post [Apr. 26th, 2011|10:55 pm]

This is a placeholder post-Eastercon post, so that people who met me at Eastercon have somewhere to comment.

Jolly good Eastercon (apart from the failure in aircon which I assume is a temporary thing), and I had a fine time.

A question to Eastercon types -- has anyone else who was there subsequently developed a bit of a cough and gunky throat coupled with aching ribs, or is it just me?

yes. exactly. i've been putting it down to overheating and lack of sleep.

btw (and connectedly) the aircon was NOT broken, temporarily or otherwise - I got the maintenance man to my room (oo er) and he said "oh it's fine - the air's sucked in here and comes out here."

"But when does it get cooled down ?" quoth I.

"Oh it doesn't" says he.

"but that's NOT AIRCON, " riposts I.

"well you could say that," he chortles! . And shrugs cheerily.

he then suggested I (a) left the window open & I told him I already had forlast 4 hours, or (b) changed room.

Not a hotel I'd go back to.

Aircon in our bedroom was fine -- it cooled the space quite efficiently -- but a lot of the meeting rooms got very hot.

Aircon in our room was fine, I'm putting my sore throat and cough down to having to sleep in it full-blast to get cool, and also not stopping talking the whole time.

Our conversation with the maintenance man was much better: "Oops, the valve was still turned to the winter setting, I've fixed it now".

Ah, its the post con lurgy. Every convention I would estimate at least 20% of the people I know went to it are complaining about cold/flu or throat issues afterwards.
